We read hundreds of negative LED mask reviews.
Then built the opposite.
The complaints were consistent. Rigid shells that dented noses. Blinding lights that burned eyes. Vague promises that didn't materialise. Warranties that expired before the problems did.
We took every recurring complaint and made it a design requirement. The result is Lumé — the same clinically studied wavelengths as premium masks, at a fraction of the price, without any of the hype.
And unlike most LED brands, we'll tell you exactly who this isn't right for.
See what we fixed →"Surely someone can do better than this."The thought that started Lumé — after reading complaint after complaint about premium LED masks.
Built around what actually matters.

Clinically studied wavelengths.
Honestly explained.
Lumé uses wavelengths selected based on published research. Here is what the evidence shows — including where it is limited.
Red 630nm
The most extensively studied wavelength in photobiomodulation. Some studies suggest red light may support skin renewal and the appearance of improved tone and texture over time.
Near-Infrared 850nm
Penetrates deeper than visible red light. Research has explored its role in supporting skin recovery and the appearance of improved radiance. Often used alongside red, where some studies suggest a synergistic effect.
Yellow 590nm
Studied for skin tone balance and the appearance of reduced redness. The evidence base is more limited than red or NIR — we include it because early research is promising, not because we can make strong claims.
Blue 460nm
Widely studied for its effect on acne-associated bacteria. Used consistently as part of a skincare routine, blue light has shown meaningful results in multiple published studies for clearer-looking skin.
What we fixed in LED masks.
We read hundreds of negative reviews of premium LED masks priced between £200 and £500. Here is what we fixed.
| Issue | Typical premium mask | Lumé |
|---|---|---|
| Comfort & fit | Heavy, rigid shells that dig into the nose and cheeks. Often only wearable lying flat. | Feather-light, face-conforming. No dents, no digging. Use sitting upright. |
| Eye comfort | Fixed, harsh brightness causing eye strain and burning. | Adjustable brightness settings. Eye-kind LED placement. No harsh glare. |
| Claims vs results | £300–£500 with reviews of "no visible difference" after months. | Evidence-backed wavelengths and honest timelines. We tell you what LED can — and can't — do. |
| Skin conditions | Broadly marketed even where risks for melasma and rosacea exist. | Explicitly transparent about who LED is and isn't for. We'd rather lose a sale. |
| Ease of use | Confusing modes, vague instructions, devices that become cupboard tech. | Simple modes. Clear large-font instructions. 10 minutes. That's it. |
| Reliability | LEDs failing and return windows closing before results appear. | 18-month warranty. 30-day returns. Built around real skin timelines. |
Is Lumé right for you?
LED therapy is not suitable for everyone. We would rather be transparent about this — even if it means fewer sales.
- Controlled, eye-safe brightness with adjustable intensity
- Evidence-based red, NIR, yellow, and blue wavelengths
- A brand that tells you what LED can and cannot do
- A comfortable LED mask you can use without lying down
- Fair pricing without luxury markups
- Simple modes and clear instructions — no guesswork
- Melasma or complex hyperpigmentation
- Highly reactive rosacea
- Strong photosensitivity or light-sensitive conditions
- Dermatologist-advised restrictions on light therapy
- Photosensitising medications
We'd rather be transparent than oversell.
Why results take time.
Skin renewal is a gradual biological process, not an overnight fix.
Skin cells begin responding to light exposure. Subtle internal changes at a cellular level — nothing visible yet, and that's normal.
Skin may appear brighter and more even. Early visible improvements begin for some people. Consistency is what creates this.
Texture and tone continue to improve. Skin looks healthier and more refreshed. Most people notice clearer changes in this window.
More noticeable improvements in firmness and clarity. Results build with consistent use. Skin biology rewards routine over intensity.
Consistency matters. Lumé is designed for long-term skin health, not quick fixes.
Every Lumé mask is independently tested.
The results are published. You can read them.
